New Zealand's Foreign Affairs Minister, Murray McCully, announced that Cabinet had revoked the sport sanctions it had imposed on Fiji in 2006, and reinstated 10 post graduate scholarships. McCully made the announcement saying Cabinet had approved the easing of sanctions "which recognise both the progress that has been made in Fiji and the need for support for free and fair elections".
This is bloody ridiculous for NZ to be supporting a known criminal who committed treason, murder, sedition and is removing indigenous rights and customs and tradition. But you got to ask why?
Murray McCully doesn't know what to do about Fiji so he advises Cabinet to pretend that all is well in Fiji and that the best option is accept whatever Bainimarama and Khaiyum do and call it "progress". The reality is that the Pacific doesn't have a leader with thecalibre or right stuff to lead our nation(s) through a storm. Instead they sit on the sidelines with soft sanctions and waste oxygen on useless sissy words.
Yes, New Zealand is happy with the progress of Bainimarama's lies, intimidation, beatings, corruption and torture of innocent Fiji citizens. New Zealand is also happy with an illegal Constitution that was not agreed to by the people. So long as there is no "visible" opposition for the world to see, so that Fiji appears benign and Australia and NZ can therefore justify their non-action of any effective kind. NZ and Australia are scared shit-less of China and its growing influence so they are happy to just wait and see what happens.
People have asked what they can do to protest NZ's support for the dictatorship. As we have said before, NZ exports over $310 million dollars worth of goods to Fiji.
The simple answer is to stop buying NZ and Australian made products. If the alternative is expensive, then you need to make a choice, BUT remember why you are doing it. These are the easiest options available to you across Fiji.
The hard question is how much longer will you put up with Bainimarama and Khaiyum's lies and corruption?
The economy is at its lowest ever! Unemployment, corruption, crime and poverty are sky high. And no illegal Constitution or a rigged election will stop this. Nor will NZ or Australia's aid for the dictatorship restore confidence in the Fiji economy. The issue is Bainimarama and Khaiyums's corruption and illegal decrees. No sane person wants to invest in a country where the leaders [albeit criminal thugs] easily throw tantrums like uneducated babies and ignore the rule of law.
You the people have the power to stop this evil that is oppressing the people of Fiji. I say stand-up together NOW and say NO to dictatorship! And remove Bainimarama and Khaiyum and their thieving supporters and relatives. Then we can work together to restore true democracy and free our nation from the evil and corruption of Bainimarama and Khaiyum.
