Fiji’s dictator Frank Bainimarama hails from the village of Kiuva in the Kaba Peninsula, Tailevu Province, Fiji.  In May 2000 he ordered Fiji's elite military forces, the CRW, into parliament with George Speight to overthrow the democratically elected government and take them hostage.

Bainimarama's aim was to rule Fiji, but the coup didn’t go to plan so to get it back on track Bainimarama illegally removed his Commander in chief and President of Fiji from office. This was Bainimarama’s second coup in 2000.  The coup eventually failed and so Bainimarama had to hide his guilt and appear innocent and ensure that anyone with knowledge of his involvement in the coup was either silenced or not given the opportunity to reveal the truth.  Here are some of Bainimarama’s quotes to that effect:

On taking over the government, 29 May 2000:
  • "All the nation has been saddened by the extent to which the country has fallen during the last week. I have therefore, with much reluctance, assumed executive authority." (29 May 2000, announcing that he had taken over the government from President Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara).
This is Bainimarama’s second coup in 2000, illegally removing his Commander in Chief.  Bainimarama also lied that he had, with much reluctance, assumed executive authority.  It was a part of his plan to rule Fiji.  Col Tarakinikini stated in his affidavit that Bainimarama wanted it all – to rule Fiji.  But the President stood his ground and did not support the coup, so Bainimarama tried to get the coup back on track by removing the President.   Bainimarama had also ordered his elite CRW forces into parliament with George Speight and was a key part of the 2000 coup (This was Bainimarama’s first coup in 2000).

On releasing persons sentenced for involvement in the 2000 coup:
  • "If we don't act, this country is going to go to the dogs and no investor will want to come here." (8 December 2004).
Under Bainimarama’s dictatorship Fiji has gone to the dogs with investment at its lowest levels ever in Fiji’s history. The economy is also at its lowest levels ever.  Unemployment, crime, rape, corruption, suicide and poverty are also at their highest levels ever.
  • "You have to give it (the tiger) room. If you don't give it room, it will bite you." (4 January 2005; seen as a veiled threat to politicians not to interfere with the military).
Here Bainimarama is threatening politicians and in the process committing sedition and treason.
  • "If we don't put our foot down, they will release every man and his dog." (Criticizing the government's policy of releasing persons sentenced for involvement in the 2000 coup).
George Speight was willing to face a public inquiry and reveal everything he knew about who was behind the 2000 coup – its supporters and financiers etc.  But Bainimarama angrily objected to any public inquiry. There has been no public inquiry.

No innocent soul would want to hide the truth that will exonerate them, so why is Frank Bainimarama objecting to the truth being revealed?

Comments on the proposed Reconciliation and Unity Commission:
  • "I don't have to be nice to people who are causing great damage to the nation ... I refuse to be nice to people who want to overthrow what the military and the security forces have been doing to maintain law and order in this country in the past five years since the illegal overthrow of the Labour Government ... I refuse to be nice to people like Jioji Kotobalavu and Qoriniasi Bale. I don't have to be nice to anyone trying to destabilise what the army has built." (30 May 2005).
Bainimarama had ordered his elite CRW forces into parliament with George Speight, overthrew his Commander in Cheif, the President of Fiji and was a key part of the 2000 coup.  Now he is talking like he was not a part of the 2000 Coup.  What the army built was a smoke screen to hide Bainimarama's treasonous involvement in the 2000 coup.

Excerpts from Bainimarama’s address to Fiji's Great Council of Chiefs, 28 July 2005:
  • When we wrong God, he does not let us go, he makes us pay for our wrongs but through the death of his own son Jesus Christ. When God's people (Jews) wronged him, he weakened them in battle and caused them to be captives in Babylon for 70 years. "Let's do right in the eyes of God!"
What God is Bainimarama referring to here?  It’s obviously not the God of truth, Jesus Christ. So Bainimarama must be referring to Satan himself.

  • "Coups will be taken lightly if we condone this Bill, without justice there is no peace. If you honourable chiefs agree that those involved in the coup be forgiven, it will prove that we support the wrong and will be at odds with the integrity of God."
Bainimarama was paid by hotel proprietors [Evans] to stop the Qoliqoli Bill. Bainimarama is also using the word God here in an attempt to mask his guilt and appear innocent but CRW soldiers who entered parliament in 2000 and took government hostage all stated that they were acting under orders from their Commander Bainimarama. He was also the only person in the RFMF who had the authority to deploy the elite CRW soldiers.

  • "Our Fiji today is a new Fiji where individual freedom is protected and not a Fiji solely for Fijians. Wise decisions from this august house will promote multiracial harmony and true friendship.
Bainimarama is attempting to divert the attention of the people of Fiji from his involvement in the 2000 coup and put blame on racist policies to drum up support for his actions.

  •  "This Bill is not about crime committed within one group of people but involves many races living in Fiji. Therefore we can not apply one law onto another. We need to protect the whole population; the different faiths; cultures and traditions."
Bainimarama is talking about removing the protection of indigenous rights.  He and Khaiyum are now attacking native land ownership with their illegal decrees and constitution that does not protect native land ownership. But they are both travelling around Fiji continuing to lie to the indigenous Fijians that their land is protected, while hoping that the indigenous Fijians living in the rural areas and outer islands are ignorant enough to swallow their lies!

Please, don't let age stop you from hearing reason and the truth.  Far too many times I have seen village and community elders ignore what a younger man or women has to say. Just because they are much younger.  Parents also do this same thing, but remember you send your children to school to learn and to become doctors, lawyers and teachers, etc.  So why not listen to their opinions.  To ignore it because of age is ridiculous and only strokes stupid egos and  prevents opportunities from being realised! Arrogant and uneducated individuals also do this a lot so that they dont appear stupid.  Often they will raise their voice while insulting the other person and making fun of their ideas.  These are idiots that should not be in a leadership or advisory role.
  • "The Bill will legitimise the 2000 coup and will weaken the law and order agencies. All the good work of rebuilding Fiji to what it is today will be undone. The freeing of anyone (even if their crimes are politically-motivated) will show to the world that we are a nation that condones law breakers. It also means that we support terrorists as the Police Commissioner has commented."
Bainimarama is lying again here trying to appear innocent,  But there is too much documented evidence against him now and he cant escape it. Bainimarama's best option is immunity, which the people don’t want to give him, so his other option is to remain in power by hook or by crook, which is what he is trying to do now!

  • "Why should only a few people be freed and not others when we are all serving under the same law?"
Bainimarama’s lack of integrity, honesty and shame is obvious here. Bainimarama the dictator freed his brother in law after only a few months in prison for murder. Why didn’t he also release other murderers, or prisoners who committed lessor offences, or even the CRW soldiers still being held in Naboro prison for example? Fiji is obviously not "serving under the same law".  There is actually no rule of Law in Fiji.

  • "The military stand is that reconciliation is only possible after justice is served."
What justice was Bainimarama referring too?   Bainimarama didn’t want George Speight to reveal the truth in a public inquiry and he didn’t want to answer questions by the RFMF Board of Inquiry that he himself had setup. Brig Aziz also stopped an interview in which a soldier was going to implicate Bainimarama in the 2000 coup.

  • "Who's promoting the Bill? These are people in the current Government who participated in the 2000 coup. Some have been convicted, others are facing trial, there are still others left whom the long arm of the law should get at."
This list will include Frank Bainimarama and Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

  • "Following the 2000 coup, this august house did not agree to forgive the perpetrators but you decided that justice will take its course. You are confronted with a similar decision now. The military humbly requests that you display the same wisdom then to protect our land now."
There is nothing humble about Frank Bainimarama. He has no shame and no honour.  A typical kai-loma trait.  He and Khaiyum have given land to Chinese corporations and are attempting to steal native lands through their Land decrees and illegal constitution. Remember that the Appeal Court of Fiji, that was established by Bainimarama, ruled the 2006 coup illegal. So everything that Bainimarama and Khaiyum do are illegal.

Worse is that Bainimarama is now lying to the indigenous Fijians in an attempt to steal their lands and make them second class citizens in their motherland.  Remember, that owning a piece of land in "name only" means nothing when you don’t have a say in how much rent should be paid, how long the lease should be and when it should be returned so that your future generations can use it for their business ventures, etc.
  • "Remember the words of the Bible in Amos 5:24, 'Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-falling stream'."
Bainimarama quotes the bible as a tactic to appeal to the indigenous Fijians and righteous people of Fiji that his actions are noble and his hands are blood free. But all his actions since becoming dictator of Fiji is against all forms of true justice and righteousness. Under Bainimarama Fiji has no rule of law or any notion of justice as it is all dictated by his puppet master Khaiyum.

Reaction to statements in Parliament from Senator Apisai Tora, 23-24 August 2005. Reported by Fiji Village news service:
  • "Those threats they (Apisai Tora and Tomasi Vakatora) came up with should be condemned. He (Tora) has come up with the same threats that politicians like him throw up before elections. That if any other party especially Labour wins, there will be instability ... These people are forcing the population to vote out of fear. These types of talks have to be condemned now."
Bainimarama is now forcing the people to act, talk and live under fear of his military goons who take people to the military camps and bushes to get beaten-up, have hot boiling water poured onto them, get raped or sodomised and even murdered.

  • "This confirms the RFMF view that the Bill has nothing to do with Reconciliation and everything to do with the selfish agenda that George Speight brought into Parliament in 2000 to gather support and ensure his leadership. We better stop lying to ourselves, we better stop these people lying to us."

Compare these quotes by Bainimarma to what he has done since December 2006 and hopefully you will see the truth about the real Frank Bainimarama, a man running from the law & saying anything & everything to escape from it.  And when you do see the truth, then decided what you will do to save your country from Frank Bainimarama and Khaiyum.
